HLTAID007 – Apply Advanced Resuscitation
This course deals with the provision of advanced first aid resuscitation techniques, life support, and management of casualty(s), until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers.
This course has two basic core subjects, which are Administer Oxygen and Perform Defibrillation.
People looking to advance their first aid skills to include using an automated external defibrillation, applying soft bag resuscitation and oxygen delivery are highly recommended to complete this course.
5 hours minimum face-to-face training
- Assess the situation and recognise someone requiring advanced resuscitation
- One and two rescuer resuscitation techniques
- Oxygen safety precautions
- Selecting and ‘cracking’ an oxygen cylinder
- Checking and assembling an oxygen cylinder and equipment
- Administering oxygen with a face mask
- Selection of appropriate oropharyngeal airway
- Inserting an oropharyngeal airway
- Operate suction equipment
- Use of bag and mask device with oxygen therapy
- Two rescuer soft bag resuscitation
- Safe procedure and effective use of an automated external defibrillator
- Provide reports
Minimum age for participants is 14 years.
A current certificate in; HLTFA311A Apply First Aid or HLTCPR211A Perform CPR or HLTFA211A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support.
You will be required to bring the certificate of your training as evidence to enroll into this course.

Certificate valid for 12 months as per industry standard. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends a refresher course every 12 months.

Emergency Training Australia conducts progressive assessment throughout the course; this includes practical demonstrations as well as a multiple-choice assessment. The assessment process covers all the theory subjects of the course and the practical assessment covers CPR and advanced resuscitation skills, use of automated external defibrillator and use of oxygen delivery systems. Due to the practical components of the course participants are advised to wear comfortable casual clothing.
This statement of attainment is nationally recognised and workplace approved throughout Australia.

Participants who successfully complete this qualification may be eligible for entry into further study such as: Certificate II in Emergency Medical Service First Response.
