Course description:

In a ‘nut shell’ this course is the Provide First Aid, Asthma Management and Anaphylaxis management rolled into the one course.

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.

The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies. This unit of competency will contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulation (2011).

This unit of competency has been approved by ACECQA and meets the requirements of “First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis”.

Course duration:

7 hours (minimum) face-to-face training – with pre-course workbook required before training session.

Prerequisites

Minimum age for participants is 14 years. There are no pre-requisites or co-requisites for this course.

Certificate validity

Certificate valid for 3 years as per industry standard. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that CPR skills are refreshed annually.

Assessment

Emergency Training Australia conducts progressive assessment throughout the course; this includes practical demonstrations as well as a multiple-choice assessment. Due to the practical components of the course participants are advised to wear comfortable casual clothing.

Accreditation

This statement of attainment is nationally recognised and workplace approved throughout Australia.
